Well, the good news is that there are more and more places in London where you an hang out with friendly pups whether you’re a dog owner or just a really keen dog lover.
Pet-friendly cafes are on the rise offering everything from pet grooming services and doggy daycare to really good coffee and the chance for plenty of doggy cuddles.
There’s even a pug café serving puppuccinos and freshly sliced strawberries although be aware that these are for the pugs, not you!

Our favourite dog cafes in London
From petting pugs to hanging out with dashing dachshunds, there’s a dog cafe in London perfect for all kinds of dog lovers. If you’re looking for somewhere to eat without your four-legged friend in tow then take a look at these London restaurants.
Cuppapug
Undoubtedly one of the cutest dog cafes in London is this dedicated pug cafe in Haggerston, east London.
Dog owners are welcome to bring their own pugs with them to play in the ball pit and enjoy some sweet treats but otherwise there are the six very cute resident pugs to hang out with.
Cuppapugs’ pugs have all grown up together and are used to playing with one another as well as visiting humans. They take turns hanging out in the cafe and get regular breaks so be aware that who you see on the website might not be who you meet on the day.
There’s a small cafe on site selling pug-themed smoothies, hot drinks and snacks as well as treats for the pugs who may well let you give them a belly rub if you feed them some strawberries! This is a really fun activity to do in London with kids.
Cuppapug works closely with the National Pug Protection Trust to help fostered and adopted pugs.
Visits are for one hour, cost £15 per person and must be booked in advance. You do get a discount if you are a pug owner bringing your pup along. Children are very welcome and are also charged (check the website for children’s rates as they were yet to be announced at the time of writing).
Verve London Pet Boutique and Cafe
Located in Notting Hill, West London, Verve Boutique offers everything pet owners might need. As well as doggy dental sessions and grooming services, this London dog cafe offers doggy daycare and even dog training sessions for any wayward pooches.
The Verve coffee shop sells coffees named after their favourite breed of dogs as well as fresh pastries, light lunches and some excellent Jamaican food. With everything from a Doggachino (Cappuccino) on the menu to a Toy Bichon (Latte Macchiato). If coffee’s not your think then try a Pink Poodle (Seasonal herbal tea) or a Pomeranian (sorrel and ginger tea) instead!
For something a little stronger, Verve also have a fully licenced cocktail and wine bar and opens late from Thursday through to Sunday.
Verve London Pet Boutique and Cafe
Paws for Coffee
This dog-friendly cafe simply loves dogs, so much so that they have a separate food and drink menu for your four-legged friend. While you enjoy delicious coffee and breakfasts, pups can chow down on dog treats puppacinos, dog sausages, calves hooves and much more.
Located in Hampton, near Bushy Park in Richmond, Paws for Coffee is the brainchild of experienced dog trainer Louise Rawlinson. She trained under her dad, Stan Rawlinson “The Dog Listener” and has since trained thousands of dogs herself. She continues to offer one-on-one puppy training today and the cafe also a doggy daycare service and puppy socialisation classes.
Love My Human Townhouse
One of the most popular dog cafes in London, LMH Townhouse offers everything you could possibly need for your dog from doggy daycare (and even a day care membership club offering) to all aspects of dog wellness.
The LMH Townhouse has a dedicated treatment room where canine holistic therapists perform everything from reiki and massage therapy to chiropractic therapy and acupuncture to ensure that your pup is in tip top shape.
The dog cafe is one of the friendliest in town (although you don’t need to have a dog to dine here!). Pooches get seriously spoiled here with their own menu featuring beef meatballs, beef wellington and even cod and sweet potato fish cakes – plus dessert and afternoon tea options! Don’t be worried however, the “human menu” is just as good.
LMH Townhouse is located in Chelsea, central London.
Pup Up Cafe
If there’s a dedicated cafe for pugs then it’s not surprising that there’s also a one for dachshunds! Although not a permanent cafe space, Pup Up Cafe hosts regularly pop up cafes for sausage dogs to socialise.
The team behind Pup Up Cafe have been hosting Dachshund Pop Up Cafes in London for years and have now branched out into pop up events for Pugs and Doodles with plans for more pop up pup cafes in place. Check the website for details.
And don’t worry if you don’t have your own sausage dog, visitors are also welcome at the events (and they’re the perfect place to find out more about the breed if you’re thinking of getting one yourself). Just remember to ask dog owners before petting and interacting with their pets.
Pawsitive Café
According to the Mental Health Foundation, “the companionship that a pet offers is a great way to reduce anxiety and stress”, which is the main reason why Pawsitive Cafe was established. The founder wanted a furry-friendly venue where anyone – pet owners and non pet owners alike – going through a rough pooch could de-stress in a relaxing environment surrounded by friendly dogs.
The cafe serves everything from brunch-friendly fare to Malaysian dishes, burgers and Buddha bowls. Naturally, there’s a pup-friendly menu too with scrambled eggs, pancakes, pucks and more to choose from.
Pawsitive Cafe is located on Westbourne Grove in Notting Hill.
Big City Dog
Located in the heart of Kensington, Big City Dog offers a welcoming and inclusive space where dogs and their owners can enjoy quality time together. The space provides a range of services including grooming and a ‘Drop & Shop’ option where you an leave your pooch in the capable hands of Big City Dog staff for up to three hours while you hit the high street.
The on site cafe serves great coffee and cold drinks plus pastries, pupuccinos and biscuits for dogs.
Pop + Bark
Another company offering fun pop up events for pups is Pop + Bark. These events are not limited to London (they host them all around the country) and include breed-specific cafes and discos, mixed-breed events and outdoor parties.
On the calendar for this year in London is the Cocker Cafe (for Cocker Spaniels) as well as events dedicated to Cockapoos, Labradors, Corgis and more.
Each event features a Pupuccino Bar as well as the brand new Pop + Bark Popcorn Bar for dogs. There’s a Doggy Bakery, a ‘Chill Zone’ for nervous pups and a doggy boutique as well as plenty of treats for humans too. And don’t worry if you don’t have your own pets, dog loving non-owners are welcome too!
King’s Dog Daycare & Cafe
King’s Dog Daycare started as a dog daycare but has since become a haven for dog owners and lovers alike and is today one of the best dog friendly cafes in London.
Book their Pet-A-Pooch experience and get 45 minutes cuddling, playing and hanging out with the resident pups while enjoying a very good coffee. King Louie the Chow Chow is the most famous here so ask nicely and he might let you have your photo taken with him.
King’s still operate as a day care as well as offering full grooming services that sound good enough for humans including Blueberry Facials, Pedicures and their signature Wash & Floof.
