We LOVED hanami (cherry blossom) season when we lived in Japan — my favorite 2-3 weeks of the year! We lived near the Sumida River, so would often have BBQs under the trees as we watched the petals fall. Magic. I always tell people that Spring is the best time to visit Japan.

As for other great festivals for families, have you been to Fallas in Valencia? We just experienced it for the first time this past March and it was amazing!
